Why Choose Rockford Fosgate R2D2-10 Component Car Subwoofer?
Deep Bass Power That Stays Clean Under Pressure
The Rockford Fosgate Prime R2D2-10 brings serious low-end punch with the kind of control you actually want in a daily setup. Thanks to its CEA-2031-compliant power handling, it’s built to handle continuous power without breaking up or overheating, so the bass stays tight, clean, and consistent even when you push it harder. It’s the kind of sub that doesn’t just hit, it holds its sound quality while doing it.
Flexible Wiring and Tough Build for Real System Control
With dual 2 Ohm voice coils, the R2D2-10 gives you strong wiring flexibility, letting you dial in your setup for higher output or better amp matching depending on your system goals. The StampCast steel frame keeps everything solid and stable under load, while the mica-injected polypropylene cone, anodized aluminum voice coil former, and spider venting work together to manage heat and keep performance steady.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- • Why is the bass weaker than expected?
Check the enclosure, amplifier settings, polarity, and wiring. An incorrect box or weak signal can reduce the overall bass response.
- • How should I wire the dual voice coils?
Both coils should be wired correctly. Parallel wiring creates a lower final impedance, while series wiring creates a higher impedance.
- • What amplifier power should I use?
Choose an amplifier that matches the subwoofer's RMS rating and final impedance. Set the gain carefully for clean, reliable performance.
- • Why does it sound weak on deep bass?
Enclosure volume and tuning affect low-frequency response. Make sure the enclosure is properly designed for the subwoofer's specifications.
- • Why does the bass distort at higher volume?
Clipping, excessive gain, or an unsuitable amplifier can cause distortion. Lower the gain and check the amplifier settings.
- • Can the voice coils be wired to separate amplifier channels?
Use one suitable amplifier channel and wire both coils for the correct final impedance. This provides more predictable power delivery.
- • Why does the cone move but produce little bass?
Check polarity, enclosure sealing, and crossover settings. Incorrect phase or air leaks can greatly reduce low-frequency output.
- • Why does it make a buzzing or rattling noise?
Check the mounting hardware, enclosure, terminals, and nearby panels. Loose parts can vibrate when the bass gets stronger.
- • Why does it get hot when played loudly?
Some warmth is normal, but excessive heat can indicate overdriving. Lower the gain and volume if the voice coil becomes unusually hot.
- • What should I check if it suddenly stops working?
Inspect the amplifier, wiring, terminals, voice coils, and fuse. Verify the audio signal before assuming the subwoofer has failed.

this sub hits pretty well concidering its fosgates entry levelthis and the 5.25 components to put in my daughters car.all prime of course with prime 6x9's in the back.jvc kd-r530 to run front and rear speaks and a (old school, made in usa)punch 250.2 amp to push the sub.sounds really good daughter was totally blown away at the difference in sound.yes, her friends say i'm the cool dad.

Was skeptical at first but they sound amazing. Like I paid $150 per speaker. I took out 2 10 inch BMF Crossfires wired to a 1500 watt planet audio amp. Put 3 of these babies in there hooked up to a 2000 watt Cedarslink amp in my 93' GMC Sierra Stepside. Sounds like 4 12's.

Doesn't need an oversized sealed box. Produces quality low frequencies.
